Google has expanded access to its Gemini feature in Google Messages to a wider range of Android phones. Previously, only certain Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices could use Gemini, but now, more Android phones are eligible. To use Gemini, your Android phone must have at least 6 GB of RAM, be RCS-enabled, and be in one of the 165 supported countries. Additionally, you must be 18 or older, sign in with a personal account, and not be managed by Family Link or a Google Workspace account.
To use Gemini in Messages, simply open the app, tap Begin Chat, select Gemini as the recipient, and start chatting with the AI-powered chatbot. You can send requests and ask questions like talking to a friend. The chatbot works similarly to the web version, so feel free to experiment with its capabilities.
