Earlier this month, Google announced that it will bring Gemini AI-powered features to Google Maps. Now, the tech giant has started rolling out Gemini for all navigation modes, including driving, walking, using public transport, and riding two-wheelers.
In a post, the company said Google Maps will use the same Gemini language and voice preference that is set for the signed-in account and give you answers based on your precise location preferences. Google also replaced the multi-coloured microphone icon that sits in the top right with the Gemini icon.
And while Gemini replaces the old voice commands, you will have to stick to the “Hey Google” hotword to trigger Gemini in Google Maps. Also, like the Gemini-standalone app, users will be able to use it to get information from connected Google services. Now, you can also ask Google Maps about trip-related information like nearby restaurants, parking spaces, EV charging stations and petrol pumps.
