Intel has unveiled its new Core Ultra 7 268V “Lunar Lake” CPU, providing a glimpse into what customers can expect later this year. The processor has been tested on Geekbench, revealing some key performance metrics. The initial release of the Intel Core Ultra 200V CPUs is scheduled for September, with a focus on low-power mobile and laptop devices. These devices are set to challenge Qualcomm’s Arm-based Snapdragon X series processors in the Copilot+ AI PC market.
Geekbench tests on the new Intel Core Ultra 7 268V processor have shown impressive single-core and multi-core performance. The processor reached frequencies of up to 4881 MHz on the ES model, with LP-Cores expected to boost up to 3.7 GHz. However, Geekbench does not provide details on the LP-Core frequency. In tests, the single-core performance of the Core Ultra 7 268V processor scored around 2739 and 2713 points, while multi-core performance reached 9907 and 10036 points in separate runs.
In comparison to AMD’s upcoming Ryzen AI 9 365 “Strix Point” APU, the Intel Core Ultra 7 268V processor falls short in terms of performance. The Ryzen AI 9 365 ES model achieved 2995 points in single-core and 14530 points in multi-core tests, surpassing Intel’s Lunar Lake offering.
The Intel Core Ultra 7 268V processor is expected to feature 4 Lion Cove P-Cores, 4 Skymont LP-Cores, and an integrated Arc A140V GPU with 8 Xe2-Cores based on the Battlemage GPU architecture. The GPU is anticipated to reach speeds of around 2.0 GHz. The processor is projected to operate within 17W PL1 power modes, with a potential expansion up to 30W.
In summary, Intel’s new Core Ultra 7 268V “Lunar Lake” CPU has been benchmarked on Geekbench, showcasing its performance capabilities. With a focus on low-power mobile devices, the processor is set to compete with Qualcomm’s Arm-based processors in the AI PC market. However, initial tests indicate that AMD’s upcoming Ryzen AI 9 365 APU may outperform Intel’s offering. The Core Ultra 7 268V processor features a combination of P-Cores, LP-Cores, and an integrated GPU, offering a glimpse into Intel’s future lineup of processors.
