Garden State residents arrested at former IBM complex in Somers

SOMERS – After an arson fire and State Police warnings about trespassing, several people were arrested for allegedly entering the former IBM complex in Somers.

On Sunday, troopers reported the arrests of Violette Nidds, 24, of Ridgewood, New Jersey, and Benjamin Volino, 25, of Mahwah, N.J. for allegedly entering the building 24 hours before.

Troopers were dispatched to the sprawling structure for a report of several vehicles parked on the shoulder of the roadway.

Investigators said that according to earlier incidents, it was assumed the vehicles were owned by people trespassing on the nearby former IBM complex.  

Troopers entered the property and began canvassing the exterior parking lots. Soon after, both people were taken into custody.  

Volino was observed carrying a large crowbar and during the arrest, he was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm firearm. He was also in possession of property taken from the location, including a Sony camera and a large power…
