Ailing video game retailer GameStop has just taken another giant leap to become the Amazon of gaming.
The company hired the former technical director of Amazon Web Services with his newly created C-suite role as chief technology officer, it announced on Wednesday morning.
The newly appointed CTO Matt Francis appears tasked with driving the retailer’s transition from a brick and mortar business to an e-commerce giant. “At GameStop, Mr. Francis will be responsible for overseeing e-commerce and technology functions,” the company said in a press release on Wednesday morning.
