France will begin testing its own artificial intelligence-based battlefield command during a NATO exercise on Monday, Defense News reports. AI battlefield systems help optimize decision making and target identification.

Arcadia was developed in collaboration with French companies and is positioned as a European alternative to Maven, an AI platform used by NATO and developed by US defense technology company Palantir.
Demand European sovereignty in defense technology
The system, known as Arcadia, will be used during NATO’s interoperability exercise “Coalition Warrior” in Poland from June 8 to 26, according to Gen. Patrick Justel, deputy chief of staff of the French army.
French companies involved in the development of Arcadia include Mistral AI, Safran, Thales and Airbus.
