Kit Colbert
VergeIO has secured an investment from former VMware Chief Technology Officer Kit Colbert, who has also joined the company’s board of directors, adding one of the virtualization industry’s most influential architects as enterprises increasingly reevaluate their infrastructure strategies following Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware.
The move strengthens VergeIO’s position in the growing market for VMware alternatives, where organizations are seeking ways to simplify infrastructure operations, reduce software licensing costs, and modernize private cloud environments.
Colbert spent 20 years at VMware, helping develop foundational technologies including vMotion and Storage vMotion before ultimately serving as CTO. During his tenure, he also led VMware’s cloud-native and cloud platform businesses, playing a central role in the company’s evolution from virtualization vendor to broader cloud infrastructure provider.
