Just days after prominent backers were announced as investors in an initial public offering of seaweed livestock feed company Sea Forest, a smaller rival has closed its first major funding round and a new local venture capitalist says the sector could become a big moneymaker for Australia.
Western Australia-based Fremantle Seaweed has been valued at $11 million in a pre-funding round. This is the first investment from marketing and PR agency Third Hemisphere, which is expanding its work with clients in the start-up sector to begin funding them.
