A Clayton County teenager who was a student at the Florida Institute of Technology was shot dead by police on campus, investigators say.

Melbourne Police say Alhaji M. Sow, 18, from Riverdale, Georgia, was armed with a knife and students attacked just before 11 p.m. Friday.

Florida tech campus security and Melbourne police say they confronted Sow who was in a campus building. Investigators say he refused to cooperate with their orders and attacked the officers with an “edge weapon”.

A Melbourne police officer and a FIT security officer both fired and beat the pig in response. He died on the scene, reports FOX 35.

A Melbourne police officer is said to have been injured in the altercation.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now investigating the case. FIT and authorities say this was an isolated incident and is no longer a threat to anyone on campus.
