Firefox relies on AI search and promises a different approach than the competition

Firefox is the latest browser to use AI, but its approach differs from that of many of its competitors.

Firefox’s solution is a tool in development called AI Window, which developer Mozilla says will prioritize “user choice and openness.” A built-in assistant helps you surf the Internet, but can be turned off at any time.

Firefox hasn’t provided any details about which AI models will power AI Window. However, in June it noted that Firefox “allows you to choose your preferred AI chatbot provider… and switch between AI chatbots at any time.”

AI Window is “a new, intelligent, user-controlled space we’re building in Firefox that allows you to chat with an AI assistant and get help while browsing, on your terms. If you’re fully logged in, you’re in full control, and if you try it out and decide it’s not for you, you can turn it off.”
