FFXIV‘s final content updates before the new one End millr The expansion will end (or continue) many fan-favorite storylines, including the Weapons Project and the Never Crossover.

Before we met Final Fantasy 14’s new extension, End millWe seem to be getting some things done later in the fall. It appears that much of this will be delivered through patch 5.5, which was revealed on Letter from the Producer Live last night.

The title Death Unto Dawn, 5.5 Patch 5.5 is currently released on April 13, 2021. But in all honesty, it really only felt like a week since we were informed of this announcement showcase. Maybe it’ll be over before we know.

Much of this was to be expected with the 5.5 release, but it’s still good to double-check such details to be sure. After all, a few times it is explicitly stated that COVID has delayed certain elements. For example, we should get a Dragonsong Ultimate trial, but it will have to wait until 6.1.

So what are the big 5.5 tidbits we got from the live letter? Let’s try it out!

(Of course, we also talked about the biggest 6.0 announcements that everyone is talking about. Plus, our senior editor made sure all of the key information came from that keynote.)

SOME GENERAL SPOILERS AHEAD

Two-part quest version of the main scenario

There’s a lot more to discover in the main scenario quests before Endwalker Expansion arrives, it seems. After all, the developers were pretty excited about the true nature of our ordeal in version 6.0, although … well, okay, think about it, the scenario was basically slapped in the face by Fandaniel. That doesn’t generally make it any less urgent. End times forced upon us? Not good.

That is, 6.0 could start now – but it seems we are going to investigate a bit into the situation in our home country. Patches 5.5 (0) and 5.45 will apparently dwell on this more. And yes, it is common for storylines to have a “split” story in two patches like this one at the end of the expansion. Just means more content for the fans who came for the story! Which is a lot of them it seems.

Included is a new dungeon called Paglth’an. If the aesthetic sounds familiar to you when you look at a map of Eorzean, then it’s the small peninsula east of the main region of Thanalan. Basically it’s Thanalan, but not entirely. It is equally important that the majority of the Amalj’aa tribe live here. In the circumstances of 5.4, maybe they are not considered enemies?

New unreal test

It seems that the next patch will reveal a new unreal trial, as promised with each major patch. In summary, Unreal Trials are basically the Extreme versions of older studies that have been scaled to the current difficulty of the content. Once you’ve completed it once a week, you can play a game called Faux Hollows to win one or more prizes, including one more try that counts for a prize. (Unfortunately, you can only play for prizes once a week.)

This started with the 5.3 patch last summer with Shiva Unreal. Currently, players beat Titan Unreal for 5.4. Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly which enemy turf we will resort to for patch 5.5. The primaries we still have are Leviathan, Good King Moggle Mog XII, Garuda, Ramuh, and Ifrit. We can at least hope that it will be just as exciting and challenging as our unreal challenges before.

Secret NieR Alliance Raid: Third Chapter and New Weekly Quest

The development team has kept the new again Never Crossover Alliance invaded a secret. This is likely to be a pain for those of us who have watched closely the tech-canonical crossover series that isn’t just about it NieR: machines Characters and attitudes, but indications of broader ones Never Franchise threads. It should be noted, however, that this is referred to as the “third chapter” rather than the “last chapter”.

What we do know is that in patch 5.4 we got a whirlwind of revelations – or at least a massive one, with huge ramifications for the entire storyline. If you’re interested in this, it’s been a pretty long search. So we recommend turning them off sooner rather than later if you’re trying to get into the new Alliance raid as soon as possible.

This update also comes with a unique quirk: There will be a weekly quest for the Alliance raid series. We’re also not sure if this is the case, so we definitely need to watch out for more news or the more in-depth patch notes. Or the patch itself, agonizing as the possibility is.

Will Yoko Taro permanently delete the data center? Or is he just responsible for clearing the walls for the new “data center trip” feature?

Werlyt’s mourning: Or the weapons project will end too

If you’ve been invested in sad, desperate orphans instead, the Sorrow of Werlyt questline, also known to the community as The Weapons Project, ends in patch 5.5. We already knew we would likely face the diamond weapon and this was officially confirmed in the live letter.

This also comes with an Extreme version that has a grindable mount which then leads to this whole collection thing where you can farm a large Extreme finishing mount. Business as usual for the mountain farmers.

For those who are not that invested, this story follows the Warrior of Light and some former Garlean leaders who are now banding together to form a group of sadboys trying to track down and destroy a range of mechas made by former ones Orphans were controlled by a leader who once were not so sad and desperate for extremely complicated but terrible reasons. It’s a pretty good side quest series that recalls many of the themes that make the mecha genre so memorable and undermines a lot of pro-military stories.

In addition, at some point you get into a huge mecha fight. Yes, you get on the robot. That’s probably not the case with the diamond weapon, but I’d really like to throw that out.

Resistance Weapon & Bozja storyline completion, adjustments

Of course, there are still some new things to do in Bozja before we focus elsewhere in the Garlean Empire. Given that this is MMORPG content that leaves a good looking gun streak behind, it is unlikely that we will end the conflict in the region for a long time. But hey, we can try.

With patch 5.45, we took on some of our most terrifying enemies to date through the Alliance-sized dungeon Delubrum Reginae, which has some cool bosses if you haven’t tried it out already. However, many players were more focused on grinding up the resistance weapon, which is understandable! It looks great, and players can choose the stats they want to focus on for their item level 515 weapon.

In fact, the developers have been watching the feedback closely. We’ll talk about this in more detail another time, but for now we’ll at least mention that Yoshida cleared up many of the requirements for 5.45. There will also be a hotfix shortly that will make Castrum Lacus Litore more workable.[t]His duty has become a bottleneck, both for the activation of Delubrium Reginae and for the completion of resistance weapons. “Until then, Yoshida-san recommends players help each other to meet these needs.

For the Resistance Weapons in particular, you will need to complete the Save The Queen storylines up to each point in the weapon quest progression. That is, in order to get the 5.45 weapon you have to actually complete the 5.45 Save The Queen story quests. However, it sounds like some fixes are being made to make the quests easier before 5:35 a.m.
