In the past few years, you can hardly imagine a more radical guitar design from a mainstream manufacturer than this Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster. It was launched in 2019 and impressed with a hybrid build that felt like an electric yet a range of. delivered acoustic guitar Tones and gave us a chance to mix them.
The American Acoustasonic Tele presented a new frontier for that acoustic electric guitarbut it – and the Acoustasonic Stratocaster and Jazz master which followed – were by no means cheap dates. The Player Series Acoustasonic Telecaster changes this.
At the inauguration of the expansion of the Fender factory in Ensenada, Mexico, the Mexico-built Acoustasonic showcases the distinctive fully hollow TV channel, complete with a coordinated “waterfall” soundhole, with streamlined electronics, which ensure a significantly reduced retail price and still offer the adventurous player a wide range of hybrid sounds.
The Acoustasonic Tele of the Player series has a three-way language selection switch in contrast to the five-way switch of the US model. The Player Series Telecaster also presents the patented Stringed Instrument Resonance System (SIRS), which was specially developed for this model.
Its acoustic engine was developed by Fender and Fishman, with the noiseless Modern N4 single-coil from Fender processing electrical tones and the sub-saddle transducer from Fishman processing the acoustic tones.
In summary, you have six core tones to play with and the all-important blend control to combine electrical and acoustic voicings for something completely different.
With a mahogany body and solid Sitka spruce top, it definitely looks and is available in Brushed Black, Butterscotch Blonde, Shadow Burst and Arctic White finishes.
Elsewhere, there are some player-friendly contours to accommodate the forearm and a sculpted neck heel to improve access to the upper frets, as well as the same deep C-neck profile you see on the American professional II Electric series.
A 9 V battery should provide the Acoustic Engine with over 20 hours of playtime – more than enough for an open mic night.
The Player Series Acoustasonic Telecaster is available now for £ 1,049 / $ 1,199. See fender for more details.
