A student from Mt. Blue High School in Farmington has been selected as the 2024 Maine winner of Google’s Doodle contest. Google invited students from across the United States to participate in the contest by submitting their ideas for the 16th annual Doodle for Google competition. This year, students were asked to express their vision for the next 25 years in celebration of Google’s 25th anniversary.
Olivia Fish, a student at Mt. Blue High School, shared her wish for a future where fewer animals are homeless or abused. Her submission featured digital art depicting animals shaped like the letters of the Google logo. Olivia’s heartfelt wish is for a world where there are fewer “homeless” animals living on the streets or being imported, inbred, or abandoned.
The 55 winners of the state-level competition will advance to the national round, where five national finalists will be chosen. The national winner will receive a $55,000 scholarship as well as a $50,000 technology package for their school or a nonprofit organization of their choice.
