Facebook Messenger gets a new function for splitting bills

Meta (before Facebook) has introduced a new function called “Split Payments” in Facebook Messenger.

As the name suggests, with the new function you can split the expenses easily and free of charge with your friends and family – regardless of whether it is a restaurant bill or house rent.

To split the bill, all you have to do is hit the “Get Started” button in a group chat or in the Payments Hub in Messenger. Then you can split the bill evenly among the group or change the contribution amount for each individual with or without yourself.

Then enter a personalized message and confirm yours Facebook payment Details, and your request will be sent to the group that will be visible to everyone on the chat thread.

Meta will begin testing the new feature in the US starting next week, but it’s unclear when it will roll out to other regions.

Aside from introducing the bill split feature, Meta also added four new AR-based group effects to Facebook Messenger, developed in collaboration with King Bach, Emma Chamberlain, Bella Poarch, and Zach King. You can check them out below.

The company also reminds us of a new chat theme and two sound mojis recently released for Stranger Things fans, and a new sound moji released in celebration of Taylor Swift’s new album, “Red”.
