With the new guidelines taking effect on June 28, VPN providers across the country have taken different approaches to ensure user privacy and compliance

The story so far: On April 28th, India’s Cybersecurity Authority passed a rule requiring VPN providers to record and keep their customers’ logs for 180 days. She also asked these companies to collect customer data and store it for up to five years. In addition, it has been mandated that any recorded cybercrime must be reported to the CERT within 6 hours of the offence. The new guidelines, if approved, will come into effect on June 28th.

Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) instructions apply to Data Centers, Virtual Private Server (VPS) Providers, Cloud Service Providers, Virtual Asset Service Providers, Virtual Asset Exchange Providers, Custodian Wallet -Providers and government organizations….
