Cisco announced at the Cisco Live conference on June 5 the acquisition of Splunk, a data security and observability company, in March 2024. This acquisition has led to the development of the Unified Observability Experience, which aims to create seamless connections between AppDynamics and the Splunk Platform. This new offering includes single sign-on credentials for shared workflows, context-sensitive deep links, and full-stack connections for various applications.
In addition to this, Cisco and Splunk have introduced new artificial intelligence tools to assist with decision-making processes. This includes an AI assistant for Cisco AppDynamics, tools for managing configurations and insights with AI and machine learning in Splunk IT Service Intelligence, and the hosting of Cisco AppDynamics as Software as a Service on Microsoft Azure.
Cisco’s incubation arm, Outshift, has also partnered with Mistral AI to offer a generative AI deployment tool called Motific, which is available for a free trial ahead of its general release on July 31. Motific helps IT and business teams deliver generative AI applications and assistants, catering to the growing demand for modern AI solutions.
The collaboration with Mistral AI aims to enhance innovation and operational efficiency for Cisco customers, while ensuring compliance with trust, security, and cost policies. Moving forward, Cisco and Outshift plan to leverage Mistral AI products for security, intelligence, and recovery capabilities within Motific.
Mistral AI is one of the recipients of Cisco’s $1 billion global AI investment fund, highlighting the company’s commitment to driving innovation in the AI space. Overall, these developments signify Cisco’s continued expansion in the observability and AI sectors, with a focus on enhancing customer experience and providing cutting-edge solutions for various industries.
