Exciting Enhancements to Db2® Warehouse on IBM Cloud® – IBM Blog



The latest update to Db2 Warehouse on IBM Cloud brings many new features to improve efficiency, capability, and cost-effectiveness. Storage costs are now up to 34 times cheaper with support for Db2 column-organized tables on Cloud Object Storage. Query performance has improved by up to 4 times with advanced caching technology and data in Object Storage. The software now supports the Iceberg open table format, enabling seamless integration with open data formats like Parquet, AVRO, and ORC. Integration with IBM watsonx.data allows customers to run fit-for-purpose engines in hybrid cloud environments. Deployment on IBM Cloud VPC Gen2 ensures better scalability, security, and resiliency.

In addition to these enhancements, the latest release of Db2 Warehouse includes improvements to the Db2 engine, such as native Cloud Object Storage caching, federation, security, and availability. Customers can now scale their Db2 Warehouse instance up to 5,760 vCPUs per cluster, automatically increase block storage, perform granular backups at the schema level, and integrate with IBM AppID for easier Azure Active Directory integration. New APIs have been introduced for scaling, upgrades, backup, restore, and logging, simplifying management on the IBM Cloud platform.
