Epic Games claimed that Google had previously formed a “Fortnite Task Force” that supposedly meets daily to identify possible security flaws in the Battle Royale title. It was created when the game was still installed outside of the Play Store in 2018.

‘Fortnite’ from Epic Games and Google

At that time, Epic’s “Fortnite” offered Android users a mobile version of the hugely successful game title, which, according to Bloomberg, was only available in the Samsung Galaxy Store and on the Epic website.

However, Battle Royale game players were able to install the game without going to the Google Play Store, the tech giant’s official app marketplace.

Hence, Epic Games could bypass paying commission fees for the app in question …
