Intel has introduced a fix called “Intel Default Settings” to address stability issues with certain 13th and 14th generation Intel Core processors. This fix requires motherboard BIOS to incorporate the relevant settings. MSI has implemented the “Intel Default Settings” feature in its latest Z790 BIOS, following Intel’s guidelines. The default configuration recommendations from Intel include two power limit settings: “Performance” and “Extreme”. Motherboard manufacturers can choose one of these configurations based on their board’s power design.

MSI’s implementation of Intel’s default configuration adopts the recommended performance settings for the 13th and 14th generation Intel Core i9 K/KS processors. Users can select the Intel default settings in the BIOS under the “Select CPU Cooler Type” window. MSI also provides two additional power limit configurations: Tower Air Cooler and Water Cooler. If users want to enhance CPU performance, they can try the Tower Air Cooler or Water Cooler settings, which increase the processor power limit.

In the BIOS, users can change the power limit settings later by selecting the desired configuration in the CPU Cooler Tuning option. However, when selecting Tower Air Cooler or Water Cooler settings, a message will appear cautioning users about the potential reduction in system stability.

Overall, the “Intel Default Settings” feature aims to improve stability for 13th and 14th generation Intel Core processors. Users have the option to choose between different power limit configurations based on their needs, including the default Intel settings, Tower Air Cooler, and Water Cooler settings. It is important to note that selecting the Tower Air Cooler or Water Cooler profiles may impact system stability.
