Encouraging and empowering young people for an AI future

Today I had the pleasure of participating with a number of leaders in timely, impactful discussions on child well-being in the age of AI at the Vatican, building on thoughtful conversations during the United Nations General Assembly. These issues are top of mind around the world, from parents to policymakers to doctors.

At Microsoft, we remain focused on our purpose of empowering young people to use technology safely and mindfully and to pursue social, educational and economic opportunities. This means we need to take new steps driven by regulation, such as new age verification measures for our Xbox users in the UK, and adapt our long-standing commitments to responsible AI and children’s online safety and privacy to build trust in the AI ​​age. Today we unveil new research on youth perspectives, announce the AI ​​Futures Youth Council to amplify teen voices, and offer policy recommendations to help families confidently navigate the digital world.
