Whether foolish or prescient, Atlassian’s decision five years ago to build a 40-story headquarters in the heart of Sydney is being tested by an artificial intelligence revolution that is having a devastating impact on the software sector.
The Nasdaq-listed software company has leased almost all of the $1.45 billion tower’s office space, which is divided into residential quarters, each with four levels. Below, a hostel extends over five floors. But amid a round of job cuts, Atlassian wants to sublet more than a third of its space.
