The co-founder of Elon Musk’s company Neuralink tweeted on Saturday that the startup had the technological advances and the know-how to create its own “Jurassic Park”.
“We could probably build Jurassic Park if we wanted to,” said Max Hodak tweeted Saturday. “But it wouldn’t be genetically authentic dinosaurs [shrugging emoji]. Maybe 15 years of breeding + technology to get super exotic new species. “
In the film Jurassic Park, scientists working for a wealthy industrialist can genetically manipulate dinosaurs and work to open a theme park to showcase if something goes wrong.
Neuralink was launched in 2017 and is working on creating it Brain-computer interfaces with the hope of one day being able to help people suffering from Alzheimer’s, dementia, paralysis and spinal cord injuries, among others.
In August 2020 Musk made his debut with Gertrude, a pig who had Neuralink implanted a small computer chip in his brain. The chip was planted near the part of the brain that controls its snout. While Gertrude ate, a computer showed waves and peaks emitted by the chip and monitored Gertrude’s neural response.
Hodak did not further explain the technology Neuralink used to construct the long-extinct dinosaurs.
