A former Oracle employee will be awarded $40 million for reporting his former company’s misconduct, resulting in the largest settlement ever under the False Claims Act related to a General Services Administration (GSA) contract. The False Claims Act allows private citizens to file lawsuits on behalf of the U.S. government and receive a portion of any funds recovered. Oracle, a California-based technology company, agreed to pay $199.5 million plus interest for not fulfilling its obligations to the GSA, an agency that supports federal government operations.
