Education bodies and charities are facing massive increases in VMware licensing fees after the virtualisation supplier’s new owner Broadcom withdrew a programme offering generous discounts to non-profit organisations.
Many customers also face extra costs associated with changes to VMware software bundles now being sold, as well as server licence changes that may disadvantage organisations that have deployed VMware based on powerful multicore on-premise servers.
