A new chapter of Fortnite is here. It includes a new map and a new loot pool as well as several small upgrades that ensure a smoother gaming experience. However, according to some of these players, another change has been made Fortnite. A fan base is turning against Epic Games, claiming that generative AI was used in the creation of some of the game’s new graphics.
The drama unfolded over the weekend when players on Reddit pointed out that several in-game artworks may have been created using AI. The first piece that caught the attention of an attentive gamer was a poster for the feature film Mile High Retreatwhich shows a yeti with nine toes – five toes on one foot, four on the other. Inaccurate numbers of fingers and toes have become a hallmark of AI-generated art.
An accusation was quickly refuted. A Back to the Future 2-Spray featuring an animated, almost Ghibli-esque image of Marty McFly was called out by players as being AI-generated before…
