US President Donald Trump insists the now infamous “AI Jesus” image depicts him as a doctor. This claim has some plausibility. We see Trump holding a ball of light in one hand and placing his other glowing hand on the forehead of a lying patient. Trump is a healer and his medicine is light.

But this is clearly about more than just the usual bedside manner of a doctor. Doctors generally don’t have light balls on hand when walking the hallways of hospitals. There is something in this image that invites us to revere Donald Trump, to look at him with awe – as do other people in the image. So it might be worth getting to the bottom of the identity and mission of this quasi-divine AI-generated persona.
