Every February, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other countries celebrate Black History Month. It is a month long celebration of the generations of black people who elevated society through the way they lived their lives. It is also an opportunity for us to realize that much remains to be done in the name of promoting diversity and inclusion.

This moment extends to all areas – including cybersecurity. In fact, (ISC) 2 found that the minority participation in the cybersecurity profession was only 26%. Less than a quarter (23%) of these people held management positions in their workplaces. This is despite the fact that 62% of the minorities in cybersecurity had a Masters degree or a higher degree (ISC) 2.
