Digital Ocean has “limited capacity” issues it can’t explain • The Register

Digital Ocean has cloud capacity issues and doesn’t say what the problem is.

The junior cloud company availability matrixwhich lists resources that customers can deploy was last updated on July 18th and includes the following warning for four data centers:

AMS2 is located in Amsterdam’s Netherlands hub, while NYC and SFO data centers are located in New York City and San Francisco. The matrix shows there are nine other data centers – including two in NYC, two in Europe, one in the UK and one in Singapore – with capacity for droplets. That’s the company’s label for a VM. So 30 percent of Digital Ocean’s data centers have barriers to droplet generation.

The company also offers cloud storage and other services. It is unclear whether the reference to the creation of “resources” also affects these services.

The registry discovered the above recommendation in early September and has since made several email inquiries to Digital Ocean’s nominated media contact, who have not responded. We asked the company…
