During a recent press conference with RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, USAID Director Samantha Power announced a new funding of $5 million to enhance cooperation between Amazon Web Service and the RA government. Power praised Armenia’s commitment to digitalization, technology, and cybersecurity and emphasized that Amazon Web Service will assist Armenia in rapidly developing and digitalizing its systems through training in cloud computing and cybersecurity. This initiative is expected to attract more interest in Armenia, create new job opportunities, and boost economic growth.
Minister Hayrapetyan expressed gratitude to USAID and the American people for their support and highlighted the importance of digitalization in driving economic growth and innovation. He mentioned that Armenia is implementing modern methodologies to improve services such as the import of goods and company registration through digital transformation. The development of a mobile version of the service delivery platform was also recognized as a significant achievement, making essential services more accessible to citizens.
Hayrapetyan further discussed the “Cloud First” policy adopted by the Armenian government, which allows for the development of advanced cloud infrastructures. He assured collaboration with American partners to facilitate capacity building in both the public and private sectors for the transition to cloud technologies. The minister stressed the importance of partnership with the United States in promoting technological innovations and ensuring cybersecurity for a stronger and more technologically advanced Armenia.
