Despite concerns, India is sticking to its new VPN rules – everything you need to know

The government said Wednesday, May 18, that it is not making any changes to new rules that force virtual private network (VPN) providers, cloud service providers and crypto exchanges to keep user logs for five years.

Although industry players and experts had raised concerns about privacy, impracticality and rising costs, Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrashekhar said there would be no changes going forward.
