Governor Ron DeSantis and House Speaker Chris Sprowls held a press conference Monday afternoon at the State Capitol in Tallahassee to discuss proposed legislation that would improve privacy and security.

“Today’s announcement is another important step in protecting the Floridians from the often untested power of ‘big tech’,” said the governor, “following the governor and legislature’s proposal earlier this month for Florida technology transparency increase.”

The legislation would do the following:

  • Encourage companies to post a privacy policy for personal information.
  • Give consumers the right to know what information a company has collected about them.
  • Enable consumers to request the deletion or correction of certain personal information.
