Dell powers up private cloud push, Nutanix partnership

Dell Technologies powered up its private cloud push with updates to cloud, storage, and cybersecurity platform lines and a corresponding expansion of platform availability with Nutanix.

The main thrust of the latest updates includes general availability of Dell’s Private Cloud platform, which was initially unveiled earlier this year. The platform designed as a disaggregated way to support private clouds that run cloud software from vendors like Broadcom, Nutanix, and Red Hat on Dell’s disaggregated infrastructure.

Varun Chhabra, SVP of product marketing at Dell Technologies, explained in a press briefing that the platform builds on the vendor’s Automation Platform to provide enterprises with more optionality.

“What the Dell Private Cloud does is provide investment protection through its open infrastructure approach that allows organizations to deploy a specific private cloud operating system or hypervisor solution as they choose, and then later to be able to actually re-image the hardware and deploy a completely different hypervisor solution, if they so choose to, but to be able to do that with the existing hardware and the existing capabilities for automation platform that they have acquired, and all they need to do is bring their own license for a new hypervisor, or a cloud solution, or private cloud solution,” Chhabra said.
