Dell Technologies has unveiled a new hybrid cloud solution, the Dell XC Plus, in collaboration with Nutanix.

This product aims to simplify the complexities of managing on-premises and hybrid cloud environments, offering enhanced data storage and compute capabilities through a unified system.

Additionally, it provides automated security and data protection features, leveraging AI and machine learning for performance and resource planning enhancements.

The collaboration seeks to broaden Nutanix Cloud Platform’s integration with more Dell storage solutions. Travis Vigil, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Dell Technologies, stated, “We are building on our 14+ year relationship with two new innovative solutions. These new offerings, sold and delivered by Dell, are redefining flexibility and control in Nutanix environments.”

Dell XC Plus is described as a turnkey, HCI-based appliance. It integrates the Nutanix Cloud Platform software stack on Dell PowerEdge servers, aiming to offer customers more choice and control to meet evolving IT requirements. Vigil elaborated, “This solution features a centralised control plane, robust automation, the integrated Nutanix AHV hypervisor, and a resilient distributed cloud architecture.”

According to Thomas Cornely, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Nutanix, the benefits of this collaboration are multi-faceted. “Our customers can expect increased agility, flexibility, and innovation from these combined efforts,” he noted. The solution is designed to simplify hybrid cloud management, streamline operations through automation, and optimise performance through continuous fine-tuning using AI and machine learning.

In addition to Dell XC Plus, Dell Technologies and Nutanix have announced that Dell PowerFlex will be the first external storage supported and integrated with the Nutanix Cloud Platform. This solution aims to offer greater storage flexibility by allowing users to manage compute and storage independently, run their choice of hypervisor, and achieve high performance at scale while maintaining a comprehensive suite of Nutanix software features. “This joint solution natively integrates Dell’s premier software-defined infrastructure with the Nutanix AHV hypervisor and the Nutanix Cloud Platform to create an enhanced hybrid cloud experience,” Cornely explained.

The Dell XC Plus and the integration of Dell PowerFlex with Nutanix Cloud Platform reflect a broader commitment to hybrid cloud innovation by both companies. Cornely commented, “Our extended collaboration exemplifies our shared commitment to leveraging decades of combined expertise to deliver these new offerings.” In the long term, both companies intend to explore expanding Nutanix Cloud Platform integration with other Dell storage solutions.

The Dell XC Plus solution is already available to customers. Dell PowerFlex with Nutanix Cloud Platform, which is currently in development, will be available for early access later this year. As customers navigate the complex landscape of hybrid cloud, these new solutions aim to offer increased agility, a greater range of choices, and robust flexibility.

This partnership between Dell Technologies and Nutanix aims to meet the growing demands of organisations that are increasingly facing complexities in their IT environments. With the introduction of these new solutions, the collaboration seeks to provide enterprises with the tools they need to optimise their hybrid cloud operations and maintain stability in their infrastructure costs.
