The end of earnings season is always a good time to take a step back and see who shined (and who didn’t so much). Let’s take a look at how data infrastructure stocks performed in the fourth quarter, starting with Oracle (NYSE:ORCL).

Generating insights from system-level data is an increasing priority for most organizations. However, this requires connecting and analyzing mountains of data stored and isolated in separate databases. This is driving demand for cloud-based data infrastructure software providers, which can integrate, distribute and process information more easily than traditional on-premise software providers.

The five data infrastructure stocks we track had mixed results in the fourth quarter. Overall, sales missed analysts’ consensus estimates by 4%, while the next quarter’s sales forecast was 0.5% below.
