CD Projekt Red, developer of the recently released Cyberpunk 2077, has been hit by a class action lawsuit on behalf of investors.
The start of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 was affected by a number of issues, most of which affected the video game’s performance on last generation consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In addition to massive consumer setbacks, the developer is now also facing legal problems.
New York-based law firm Rosen has reportedly filed a lawsuit on behalf of investors for violations of the federal securities law. Attorney stated that CD Projekt Red made false claims about the recently released video game. In particular, the developer has failed to alert consumers that Cyberpunk 2077 is “virtually unplayable” on last generation consoles. One class has not yet been certified.

Conference calls are cited in the lawsuit, one of which was held in January. CD Projekt Red’s President and Joint CEO Adam Kiciński immediately assured investors that there were no problems with the last generation version of Cyberpunk 2077and instead claimed that only one optimization was required. The amount CD Projekt Red would have to pay for damages has not yet been disclosed.
In addition to the class action lawsuit, CD Projekt Red is currently facing several potentials Cyberpunk 2077 lawsuitsfrom both the USA and Poland. The developer has released a series of statements apologizing for the video game and promising last generation console users that future patches would help improve the experience. A patch has since been released but apparently it failed to address some of the game’s key issues.
The problems have led many consumers to seek refunds from retailers. GameStop and the PlayStation Store have committed, with the latter going so far, to remove the game entirely. CD Projekt Red has previously suggested that we take care of the issues and have the game Return to the PlayStation Store. Despite the current situation, the Polish developer reported this Cyberpunk 2077 has been sold More than 13 million copies worldwide, excluding games.
Kiciński previously admitted that the developer had neglected the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, stating, “After three delays, as the board of directors we were too focused on the game’s release … We underestimated the scale and complexity of the issues and that ignored. ” signals that additional time is needed to refine the game on the last generation base consoles. This was the wrong approach and contrary to our business philosophy. Additionally, we mostly showed the game on PCs during the campaign. “
Developed by CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 is now available for Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, Google Stadia and PC available.
