Customers turn on Optus as fallout from outage deepens

Optus customers are turning on the telco as the fallout from what’s being labelled the biggest blackout in Australian history deepens.

Optus customers across the country were left without access to mobile, internet, and landline services since about 4am Wednesday, which lasted for 12 hours.

Customers have expressed their frustration at being left in the dark and feel like there was no communication by Optus.

The telco has yet to confirm what caused the 12-hour nationwide network outage other than to claim it was a “technical network fault,” as tech experts say that’s not good enough.

Optus says it won’t compensate affected businesses and customers – instead, it will reward them for their loyalty and patience if they stick with the company.
