In the latest episode of Minute of War in the Clouds, we delve into the expanding partnership between Oracle and Microsoft in the multicloud space. This partnership now includes Oracle Autonomous Database, a move that Oracle believes will offer customers the opportunity to accelerate the transition away from owning and managing their own data centers.

Larry Ellison, Oracle’s founder, acknowledges the importance of having Autonomous Database in a market where cloud usage is prevalent. Oracle Autonomous Database@Azure is already available in four regions and is expected to roll out to all 15 regions by the end of the year. This shift will allow developers to focus on creating code without the burden of database management.

The partnership between Oracle and Microsoft, as well as Oracle’s collaborations with Google Cloud and making its MySQL HeatWave database available on AWS, are aimed at helping customers feel more comfortable and confident in migrating workloads to the cloud. Oracle is optimistic that this will lead to faster ‘data center exits’ for customers, as stated by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure SVP Karan Batta in a recent press release.

Overall, the alignment of Oracle’s products and services with major cloud providers is seen as a positive step in accelerating cloud adoption and providing innovative solutions for customers. The mutual benefits of these partnerships lie in creating a seamless transition for customers and fostering a more efficient and effective cloud ecosystem.
