Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale Teams Up with IBM to Speed Up Implementation of Generative AI Technology

Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, a pioneer in AI adoption since 2016, continues to invest in cutting-edge AI technologies to enhance customer service. By leveraging AI, nearly one million hours of administrative work were saved in 2023, allowing the 25,000 advisors to focus on providing the best services to members and clients. Operating as a sovereign technology bank, Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale collaborates closely with IBM to carry out IT processing within its data centers.

To maintain their leadership in AI, Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale and Euro-Information, the mutual group’s technology subsidiary, are expanding their partnership with IBM’s Watsonx platform. This collaboration aims to accelerate the deployment of generative AI in banking operations. The mutual group plans to deploy thirty-five AI use cases on their networks, with the first set expected to be available this summer. They are also testing the InstructLab technique to develop specific AI models using their own data.

According to Eric Petitgand, CEO of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, the collaboration with IBM in AI technologies has been successful, and with Watsonx, they are working on industrializing new AI use cases to enhance customer service. Frantz Rublé, President of Euro-Information, emphasizes the importance of continuous innovation in the banking sector and leveraging AI to meet specific needs responsibly. Sebastian Krause, senior vice president of IBM Corporation, highlights the collaboration to enhance customer experiences with generative AI capabilities.

Euro-Information, in collaboration with IBM Consulting, is developing industrial-scale AI solutions to improve customer relationships. Three generative AI solutions are expected to be deployed in the third quarter, enabling advisors to better meet the needs of clients. The mutualist group’s governance focuses on ethical and trustworthy AI use, ensuring privacy and transparency in AI applications.

By operating as a sovereign industrial bank, Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale maintains control over IT processes in its own data centers. The strategic partnership with IBM aims to drive technological innovation, accelerate transformation, and develop talent. Through their commitment to ethical AI, the mutual group ensures that AI serves human beings and safeguards the interests of members and customers.
