PHILADELPHIA–() – Comcast today announced successful testing of a prototype 10G modem using the core technology that will deliver multi-gigabit speeds to tens of millions of homes. In a first laboratory test worldwide, a full duplex DOCSIS 4.0 system-on-chip (SoC) cable modem built by Broadcom delivered upload and download speeds of more than 4 gigabits per second (Gbit / s) with 10G network technology.

Today’s announcement is the latest in a series of 10G milestones from Comcast. In October 2021 the company will announced a successful test a complete 10G connection with a virtualized cable modem termination system (vCMTS) with DOCSIS 4.0 technology. This announcement followed the announcements of key 10G milestones in April 2021, the very first live lab test of a 10G system on chip (SOC) and October 2020, a trial version with 1.25 gigabits per second (Gbit / s) upload and download speed over a live production network with Network Function Virtualization (NFV) …
