The most insulting thing about the success of Breaking Rust, an artificial intelligence “artist.” crowned This week’s Billboard Country Digital Song Sales charts feature the hit titles.

The EP, which is also on the charts, is called “Resilient,” as if Breaking Rust had spent years playing for tips in empty bars. And perhaps it was Aubierre Rivaldo Taylor who is credited with writing the songs. But the bluesy voice we hear singing about pain and suffering has overcome nothing.

In fact, you could say that this entirely computer-generated country singer found chart success by mocking other people. A year ago, some vocal industry figures in Nashville questioned whether Beyoncé, who was born and raised in Texas, was country enough to record a country album. Good times.
