CMA reviews Broadcom/VMware merger | Advanced TV

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating the expected $61 billion (€57 billion) acquisition of enterprise software provider VMWare by semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions specialist Broadcom.

The CMA is considering whether it is or could be the case that this transaction, if consummated, will give rise to a relevant merger situation under the merger provisions of the Enterprise Act 2002 and, if so, whether that is likely to be the case that this situation will lead to a significant reduction in competition in one or more markets in the United Kingdom for goods or services.

The CMA is inviting all interested parties to comment by December 6, 2022.
