AT&T makes big changes in its cloud computing endeavors and decides to move its next-generation 5G wireless core to Microsoft’s Azure cloud and also to sell its Network Cloud Platform technology to Microsoft.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Azure competes with IBM / Red Hat, Google and Amazon for trillions of dollars in business opportunities in the booming cloud market.
Earlier this week, IBM and Red Hat did announced big profits for their own cloud efforts at Mobile World Congress, including a deal with Verizon.
“Microsoft is essentially taking over the cloud network provisioning from AT&T, which is responsible for today’s operations, and transforming it with a combination of hybrid cloud assets,” reports FierceWireless.
