RapidDeploy, which recently moved its headquarters from South Africa to the U.S., also added a former Oracle executive to its board of directors. The company makes software in the competitive emergency dispatch space.
The Series A round consisted of funding from Samsung NEXT and GreatPoint Ventures. GreatPoint will be sending a managing partner, Ray Lane — a former chief operating officer and president of Oracle — to sit on RapidDeploy’s board of directors.
“We are excited to partner with seasoned technology investors who have proven experience in scaling software and technology,” said RapidDeploy CEO and co-founder Steven Raucher in a statement. “RapidDeploy is on a mission to democratize public safety and will now enter a new stage of growth.”

The universe of companies providing such systems includes large incumbents such as Tyler Technologies and CentralSquare Technologies, as well as some newer outfits like Mark43.
