45% of organizations have experienced a cloud-based data breach or failed audit in the last 12 months, up 5% year-on-year, raising even greater concerns about protecting sensitive data from cybercriminals.
This is according to the 2022 Thales Cloud Security Report conducted by 451 Research, part of S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Globally, cloud adoption, and multicloud adoption in particular, continues to grow. In 2021, companies worldwide were using an average of 110 Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications, compared to just eight in 2015, a surprisingly rapid increase. Usage of multiple IaaS providers has increased significantly, with nearly three-quarters (72%) of organizations using multiple IaaS providers, up from 57% last year. Usage of multiple providers has nearly doubled in the last year, with one in five (20%) respondents reporting using three or more providers.
