Amazon Web Services (AWS) explained that Role of cloud computing in processing data returned by NASA’s Perseverance Explorer on Mars.

During the Perseverance mission on Mars, the scientific and technical data is processed and hosted in AWS. The Mars Rover team receives hundreds of images of Mars from a record number of cameras every day, resulting in thousands of images during the time of Perseverance on the planet. Using the cloud helps NASA Jet Propulsion Lab, according to AWS, to store, process and distribute this high volume of data.

AWS processes data from Mars on behalf of NASA and helps to provide information about how the Mars rover is handling the terrain.
