Cisco unveils its first Co-Innovation Centre in Singapore and new cybersecurity Centre of Excellece | Cloud Computing

Cisco Technologies has launched a new “Co-Innovation Centre” in Singapore, make it the first in Southeast Asia and its 14th globally.

Additionally, the American technology firm has also set up a new Centre of Excellence in Singapore, which has a particular focus on cybersecurity and the Internet of Things (IoT).

These global Centres of Excellences work closely together to scale best practices and focus areas.

The Centre of Excellence hopes to accelerate Singapore’s Digital Economy Framework for Action, whereby it aims to become a leading digital economy.

To achieve this, the Centre of Excellence will leverage connected IoT technologies as well as Cisco’s network infrastructure to build solutions for smart nation, transportation and cybersecurity.  


Cisco says that its Co-Innovation Centre is “equipped with workplace of the future technologies”. It provides physical and virtual laboratories for the proof of concept development, experimentation, and testing of digital solutions.

In doing so, Cisco says it will bring together customers, industry partners, startups, application developers, accelerators, government organisations and universities to work on problems which unique to the region.

Chng Kai Fong, managing director of Singapore’s Economic Development Board, said that the co-innovation centre and centre of excellence will “not only build new digital capabilities in Singapore for the Asia Pacific region, but also provide opportunities for Singaporeans to work with the best minds in Cisco and its partners to create new and innovative solutions that enable and secure digital transformation in different industries.”

The Co-Innovation Centre and Centre of Excellence are located at Cisco’s 80,000 sq. ft office in Mapletree Business City II, Singapore.
