Cisco has extended its partnership with the Summer Olympics to become a network equipment partner for the 2028 Los Angeles games. This agreement includes providing network solutions across various venues in Los Angeles to ensure secure and reliable connectivity for all participants. This partnership also extends to Team USA and builds on Cisco’s previous involvement in the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Summer Games, as well as the upcoming Paris Games.

The LA28 organizing committee, led by Casey Wasserman, expressed confidence in Cisco’s industry leadership and experience in delivering a seamless experience for athletes, fans, partners, and the wider community. In addition to this partnership, LA28 and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) have joined forces with medical apparel brand FIGS to provide healthcare professionals supporting Team USA with necessary apparel during the Paris 2024 and LA28 games.

The 2028 Los Angeles games are scheduled to commence on July 14 with the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games and will conclude on July 30. The Paralympic Games will follow with the opening ceremony on August 15 and the games concluding on August 27. This marks the third time Los Angeles will host the Olympic Games, previously hosting in 1984 and 1932, and the first time it will host the Paralympic Games.

Reynold Hoover has been appointed as the new executive director of the organizing committee, and Cisco’s chief people, policy, and purpose officer, Francine Katsoudas, highlighted the company’s commitment to leveraging its expertise to ensure global connectivity for these events while leaving a positive impact on Los Angeles. Cisco aims to promote inclusivity and support a lasting legacy beyond the LA28 games by providing connectivity to local residents.

In addition to its involvement in the Los Angeles games, Cisco has secured partnerships with the Paris Games in 2021 to provide network equipment, cybersecurity infrastructure, and conferencing software. The total value of this partnership with the Paris Games has been estimated at $20 million by GlobalData. Furthermore, Cisco recently expanded its collaboration with Formula 1 racing team McLaren, showcasing the company’s continued commitment to global sporting events and innovative technological solutions.

Overall, Cisco’s extended partnership with the Summer Olympics for the 2028 Los Angeles games underscores its dedication to enhancing connectivity, security, and technological infrastructure for major sporting events while promoting inclusivity and leaving a lasting positive impact on the communities involved. The collaboration with FIGS and other key stakeholders further demonstrates Cisco’s commitment to supporting athletes, professionals, and fans at the forefront of these international competitions.
