Cisco has been recognized for its efforts in improving inclusion and belonging for LGBTQ+ employees by the Pride in the Workplace Impact Awards 2023, scoring 78% and being named an ambassador success company. The company’s rating has seen one of the most significant improvements year-over-year among hundreds of companies, with Cisco ranking as the highest-scoring company in the information and communications industry category.

Pride in work, based in the Netherlands, aims to drive LGBTQ+ inclusion in workplaces globally by providing awareness, measurement, research, and networking opportunities. Cisco’s progress in LGBTQ+ policies and practices has been highlighted as a benchmark for global employers participating in the program. Among over 120 participating companies, including customers, partners, and competitors, Cisco has shown significant advancement in promoting inclusion within its organization.

Cisco’s 78% rating is the highest it has achieved in the 10 years of participating in the Global Benchmark, placing the company among only 11 others recognized at the Ambassador level. With a remarkable 26% increase in its rating, Cisco has emerged as one of the most improved companies in the Benchmark. Various initiatives, such as visible leadership support, LGBTQ+ Social Justice Fund, Pronouns launch in the Cisco Employee Central Directory, Self-ID program, and Gender Affirmation policies, have played a crucial role in this achievement.

Leaders, teams, and individuals within Cisco have collaborated tirelessly to drive LGBTQ+ employee inclusion within the organization. Special acknowledgment has been given to the Global Pride Inclusive Community, sponsors, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the People, Processes and Policies organization, and the Benefits team, who have contributed significantly to these achievements. The Netherlands chapter of the Pride Inclusive Community has particularly played a pivotal role in assessing Cisco’s performance and guiding continuous improvements in LGBTQ+ inclusion.
