SAN JOSE, CA: Cisco has hired Steve Clayton as its chief communications officer, effective January 5.
Clayton will report to Cisco chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins, a spokesperson said in an email. The last person to hold the role was Maria Poveromo, who left the technology company in October to launch an advisory firm. Heather Dickinson, vice president of corporate and product communications, has been serving as Cisco’s interim communications leader.
“Cisco is at the center of the AI platform shift, and my goal is simple: to tell the next chapter of Cisco’s story with clarity, creativity and ambition,” Clayton said.
In an internal memo obtained by PRWeek, Robbins wrote that Clayton’s “deep experience and vision will help us further elevate Cisco’s story, accelerate our growth and scale our influence in the market.”
