Cisco introduces new product integrations following Splunk acquisition.

Cisco has revealed the initial outcomes of its acquisition of Splunk for $28 billion by integrating their observability technologies. This acquisition, completed earlier this year, combines Splunk’s products that collect security and event management data with Cisco’s monitoring tools. The goal is to enhance visibility across different environments, including on-premises, hybrid, and multicloud, while utilizing real-time analytics for faster detection, investigation, and response to potential issues.

During the keynote speech at Cisco Live, Tom Gillis highlighted the significance of unlocking data that is currently invisible to security teams through this integration. Network security is evolving towards more detailed controls, such as the Secure Access Services Edge (SASE), and technologies like Cisco’s Hypershield are aiming to provide enhanced internal data security. Splunk’s role in analyzing three orders of magnitude more data than current security teams handle is crucial in this process.

The integration of Splunk and Cisco observability solutions enables customers to have a unified view of their digital footprint, facilitating quicker issue resolution and creating a more resilient experience for users. By combining Cisco AppDynamics and Splunk products, shared workflows can be streamlined with features like single sign-on and context-aware deep linking.

Moreover, the integration of Splunk Log Observer Connect for Cisco AppDynamics allows for faster problem resolution in on-premises and hybrid environments, enhancing the troubleshooting process for application performance issues. Additional integrations include correlating application metrics with other system data in Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud, offering a comprehensive observability experience.

Cisco is also focusing on AI integration, introducing the Cisco AI Assistant for Cisco AppDynamics to support security team workflows through Generative AI technology. Furthermore, advanced AI capabilities in Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) enable the quick configuration and deployment of dynamic thresholds, as well as optimizing configurations with machine learning.
